Staffordshire County Council has completed road improvement works at the A521 Delphouse Road and Brookhouse Road junction in Cheadle. The £255,000 scheme involved resurfacing the junction and repairing kerbs and ironworks. Work took place over a four-week period and included temporary traffic management and overnight closures during the resurfacing phase.
Patrick Allen, Cabinet Support Member for Highways at Staffordshire County Council, said the completion of the scheme demonstrates the council's commitment to maintaining and improving local roads. "The resurfacing work, together with repairs to kerbs and ironworks, will provide a smoother and more reliable road surface for motorists and help keep the junction in good condition for years to come," he said.
Pothole Repairs Across Staffordshire
During July, Staffordshire County Council crews filled 4,750 potholes throughout the county — more than in any other month in the past five years. This represents an increase on July of the previous year, when 3,583 defects were repaired. Crews used a range of techniques including traditional cut and break methods, velocity patching and screeding.
The council is continuing pothole repairs throughout the school summer holidays and working towards an ambitious target of filling 40,000 potholes by the end of March 2027.
