Cheadle Town Council is expanding its Lengthsman Scheme and inviting local people to apply for paid and voluntary roles in community-based maintenance work.

The scheme provides flexible opportunities to help keep the town and public spaces clean, safe and well maintained. Work includes litter picking, general cleaning, seasonal maintenance and responding to local community requirements.

Paid and Volunteer Opportunities

Both paid positions and volunteer roles are available. Rates of pay for paid work will be negotiated on application. Volunteers can commit to regular hours or help with specific projects as they arise.

The council states that practical experience is welcome but not required — there could be a role for anyone interested in getting involved.

How to Apply

Interested candidates must submit a formal Expression of Interest by 3pm on Thursday 27 August 2026. All expressions of interest will be considered.

Enquiries and applications should be directed to Cheadle Town Council by phone on 01538-754288, or by email to Dave@cheadletowncouncil.org.uk or Rachel@cheadletowncouncil.gov.uk.
