Staffordshire Police has issued guidance for residents participating in Halloween on 31 October, emphasising respect for those who do not wish to take part in trick-or-treating.

PCSO James Naylor, based in Cheadle, has encouraged those celebrating Halloween to have a good time while being mindful that the festival is not for everyone.

Respecting householder choices

A "No Trick or Treaters" poster has been made available for residents to print and display in their windows if they do not want people knocking on their doors. Police ask that anyone seeing this poster should not approach that property and should move on to another house that may have decorations or sweets available instead.

Reporting anti-social behaviour

Residents who experience continued anti-social behaviour during Halloween night are advised to contact Staffordshire Police on 101, through the force's website, or via the online reporting system at staffordshire police.uk.
