The archway at the gates to Tean Road Recreation Ground has been fully restored and returned to its location on Wednesday, 26 August.
The arch, gates and stone pillars were damaged several years ago when struck by a wagon. The restoration work involved specialist processes including shot blasting and a specialist paint treatment designed to protect the metalwork for years to come.
Installation and Restoration Work
Lee Trumbull, a blacksmith and mobile welder, was responsible for the installation of the restored arch. The specialist paint treatment applied during restoration is intended to extend the lifespan of the metalwork.
Council Welcome
Cheadle Town Council's Mayor expressed satisfaction with the completion of the project. "I'm over the moon to see the arch back, it's been a very long process, but one that we were committed to achieving for the town," the Mayor said.
The restored arch is now in place ahead of memorial activities planned for Remembrance Sunday.
